High Index Recorded Rams = Increased lamb performance = Extra £££
The progeny from high index rams have faster growth rates, higher yields of lean
meat and are more efficient. In a commercial flock these features have a real
financial value.

Trials have shown that the crossbred progeny sired by high index, recorded rams
can be worth an additional £2.00 - £2.50 per lamb.

For an average commercial flock of 350 ewes this could be worth an extra
£980 per annum. Over a ram’s productive life it is likely to be worth
an extra £480 per ram
– can you afford to miss out?

High index rams improve flock profitability

Faster breed improvement is resulting in greater financial
benefits

Flocks recording with Signet have made impressive rates of breed improvement
in recent years, producing a quality of ram that has never previously been available to
commercial producers.

The difference between rams with superior breeding and those that are average
continues to widen and greater differences between EBVs will result in greater
margins.

A pedigree flock making 10 index points worth of progress per annum is
increasing the financial value of the commercial lamb crop by 20p per lamb, due
to more efficient growth and improved carcase value. Over 10 years this progress
 is worth £2 per lamb!
